Salvatore John Astarita, 83, of West Windsor died Monday, January 1, 2018 after an extended illness. Born in Brooklyn, NY, he resided in Lawrenceville before moving to West Windsor in 2000. Sal retired in 1987 after 30 years as an Engineer and Manager with AT&T, Hopewell. He served 25 years in the Army National Guard. Sal was an active member and past president of the Pioneers, a Bell System charity organization. He was a member of St. David the King Church and past president of the Village Grande Homeowners Association. Son of the late Salvatore John and Sadie (Carbone) Astarita, he is survived by his wife of 59 years Lillian Astarita, 2 sons and 2 daughters-in-law Salvatore and Terasa Astarita, Anthony and Karen Astarita, a brother John Astarita, and 5 grandchildren Megan, Emily, Sergio, Adelina and Antonio.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, January 9, 2018, 11:00 am, St. David the King Church 1 Village Road, West Windsor. Burial will be in the Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery. Friends may call on Monday, January 8, 2018 from 2-4 & 7-9 pm at The Mather-Hodge Funeral Home 40 Vandeventer Avenue, Princeton.Memorial Contributions may be made to Princeton HomeCare Hospice Program.
