Dr. Marsha M. Weiss

Dr. Marsha M. (Fishman) Weiss, 71, passed away at her home in Princeton, New Jersey on September 2nd, 2022. Marsha was born April 1st, 1951 in Brooklyn, New York to the late Doris (Markman) and Isidore “Izzy” Fishman, parents who loved her deeply and could not be more proud of the life she lived. Marsha loved growing up in New York and went to museums and Broadway shows whenever she could, taking the long train from Queens or hitching rides with family and friends. After graduating from Martin Van Buren High School, where she was active in the Folk Club and Sing!, she attended SUNY Buffalo and ultimately received her PhD from Georgia State University in Clinical Psychology. Marsha loved her work, but always treasured her time at the Acute Psychiatric Service most of all, where she devoted herself to helping New Jersey’s most vulnerable people and worked with a team of professionals who became her closest life-long friends. She will be remembered as a mentor, leader, teacher, and therapist who changed so many lives for the better. Most of all, she will be remembered as a loving mother and devoted friend.

Marsha is survived by her son, Evan Weiss, and his fiancée, Jacqueline M. “Jackie” Campbell, both of Princeton, as well as her sister Arleen (Fishman) Block and her husband Marc “Sandy” Block of Weston, Connecticut.

The funeral service will be held at Beth Moses Cemetery, 1500 Wellwood Ave, West Babylon, New York 11704 on Wednesday, September 7th at 1 o’clock P.M. Marsha’s family will be Sitting Shiva and greeting friends and family at 106
Spruce Street, Apartment 1, Princeton, New Jersey on Thursday, September 8 th from 1 o’clock P.M. to 7 o’clock P.M. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Brooklyn Public Library.
