Hazel B. Updike, 103, died at the Kennedy University Hospital, Washington Twp., on March 21, 2015. She had lived at Pitman Manor, Pitman, since 1993. Hazel spent her early years on a farm owned by her grandfather and managed by her father, Ben Updike, on Quaker Rd., Princeton. This farm was adjacent to a farm managed by her uncle which is now known as the Updike Farmstead, owned by the Princeton Historical Society. She spent most of her life in the Philadelphia area. She was a secretary and retired from the Raytheon Co. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Collingswood. She is survived by first cousins Dorothy G. Johnson of Robbinsville, Gerald Stryker (Stephanie) of Danville, CA, and Rachel Smith (Dwight) of Slingerlands, NY. Also cousins Sandra R. Johnson of Hightstown, and Henry B. Johnson, Jr. (Anna) of Roosevelt and other cousins. The Funeral Service will be held 2:00 pm Thursday, March 26, 2015 at The Mather-Hodge Funeral Home, 40 Vandeventer Ave., Princeton officiated by Rev. Samuel Mountain, Pastor of First United Methodist Church of Collingswood. Burial will follow in Kingston Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Kingston.
