Gheis H. Hamati, 58, of Princeton died Saturday, May 28, 2016 in his home surrounded by his loving family after a four year long courageous battle with brain cancer. He was born in Beirut, Lebanon, and was raised in Paris, France. For over 20 years he built his life as a contributing resident of Princeton and proudly worked for many years at Bloomberg in New York as the Head of Quantitative Development. He was respected as an extraordinarily talented mathematician who invented two original patents in the fields of finance and mathematics. Never compromising his duties as a father, Gheis always made time to teach and spend time with his two sons Henry and Michael Hamati. He served his family as an avid beach-goer, food connoisseur, fisherman, gardener, and a lover of literature, often quoting Shakespeare and other renowned authors and playwrights. He is well remembered by his friends as a generous host, cook, and story and joke teller. His sons remember him as a loving father and role model. And his wife knows him as a providing husband, friend, and the love of her life. Gheis is survived by his wife of 26 years Samar El-Zein Hamati, two sons Michael and Henry, his parents Henri and Elaine (Moussa) Hamati, his stepmother Soumaya (Kabbani) Hamati, two brothers Alexander and Roy, and his two sisters Inanna and May.
