George H. Gallup, Jr. b. Evanston, IL 1930. Mr. Gallup received a BA in the Department of Religion from Princeton University, Class of 1953. He has been in the field of polling fifty years, 1954 to 2004, serving in executive roles with The Gallup Poll and The Gallup Organization Founded the Princeton Religion Research Center in 1977 with Dr. Miriam Murphy, a Sister of Notre Dame. The purpose of this organization was to explore interfaith religion and spirituality in the US and Abroad. Mr. Gallup has directed more than one hundred surveys on spirituality and religion. Editor of the monthly newsletter, Emerging Trends. Co-Director (with his brother, Alec), of Gallup Youth Surveys, founded in 1977. Editor of the monthly newsletter, YouthViews. Founding Chairman of The George H. Gallup International Institute, a non-profit organization started in 1988 in memory of Dr. George Gallup. The mission of the Institute is to discover, test, and implement new social ideas to benefit society. Annual Ideas For Progress seminars were convened by Mr. Gallup and his wife, Kingsley, with presentations by national leaders (representing health, education, the environment, and religion and values) to Fellows of the Institute. Recipient of seven honorary degrees in religion, law, science and letters. A lectureship was established in Mr. Gallup's name at Dallas Baptist University. A frequent speaker at conferences dealing with business, religion, education, politics, social issues, and other areas. He has lectured at more than 150 college campuses. He is frequently called upon to give presentations at churches and other religious groups. He has served on numerous boards dealing with family and youth issues, drug abuse, volunteerism, journalism. and many other areas. Among these are: The John T. Templeton Foundation, and the jury of those charged with selecting the recipients of the annual Templeton Award; Trinity Episcopal School for Ministry; The National Fatherhood Initiative; member for a number of years of the jury that selects All-America Cities, a program initiated by the National Municipal League; Quill & Scroll Society - a International Honorary Society for High School Journalist, Chairman 1984-2004. Awards and Recognition: Recognition by Jimmy Carter for contributions to the 1980 White House Conference on Children and Families National Chairman in 1985 of the Your Opinion Counts campaign, an industry-wide effort to curb abuses in the field of survey research, as well as to encourage participation in surveys. 1994 recipient of Charles E. Wilson Award, which recognizes "business leaders whose lives demonstrate distinction in career, devotion to religion, and dedication to humanity." The award is given annually by Religion in America, Inc. 1996 recipient of Judge Isaacs Lifetime Achievement Award, given "in appreciation of outstanding service to the Bible Cause through his life's pursuits in the areas of religion research, health education, youth and writing from a consistently Biblical perspective." The award is given annually by The National Bible Association. 2000 recipient of the Bethune-DuBois Institute Award, given "in recognition of a lifetime of internationally acclaimed accomplishments in research and studies on youth, health, religion, race and urban affairs. Your dedication to religious and humanitarian activity has been an anchoring influence in shaping the value of our society." 2005 recipient of an award given by The National Fatherhood Initiative for service to the cause of fatherhood. Mr. Gallup is active in small groups ministry, the healing ministry, and in the worldwide Alpha program. He is married to the former Kingsley Hubby.
