Ruth Li Yu, 96, of Plainsboro passed away on Thursday, June 14, 2018 at Brandywine Senior Living in Princeton.
Born in Shangdong, China, Ruth moved to the United States in 1947 to study at the University of Missouri, where she completed her B.S. and M.S. in statistics. She went on to pursue a doctorate in mathematical statistics at Columbia University. Ruth applied her expertise in statistics to the newly emerging field of computer science and became a computer software engineer. She worked as a computer specialist for 25 years at the New York City Transit Authority. In 2001, Ruth and her husband moved to New Jersey to be closer to her niece’s family.
The funeral service will be held at 10am on Saturday, June 23, 2018 at The Mather-Hodge Funeral Home, 40 Vandeventer Ave. Princeton, NJ 08542. Entombment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery, Hamilton.
