Eileen Elizabeth Joan Scott (nee Lantier), long time resident of Somerset County, passed quietly and peacefully on the morning of Friday October 19, 2012. Nothing was of greater importance to Eileen than family. She was a devoted wife to Samuel Scott (deceased 1975), and the beloved mother of her five children, Patti Scott, Kathie Scott Daniel, Maureen Scott Zandanel, Jim Scott, and Dennis Scott (deceased 2010). She was a loving grandmother to Amanda and Brianna Daniel, Samantha, Nina, and Markie Zandanel, and Briagh and Michaela Hoskins-Hasbury, and mother-in-law to Blake Daniel, Mark Zandanel, and Dave Hasbury. She was the only sister in a family with 3 boys, Ed (deceased), Marty (deceased), and her remaining brother Gerry Lantier of Washington Twp., NJ. Simple things brought great pleasure to Eileen. Spending time with her grandchildren watching them grow, attending to every accomplishment and effort they made with great pride and joy; enjoying family gatherings at home or traveling to beautiful places around the world, filled with good food, good company, and laughter. And in spite of all the odds, Eileen enjoyed her time playing the slots at Atlantic City, and Las Vegas. And perhaps the most basic of pleasures...ice cream. Eileen's public persona was deceptive. To most people she will be remembered as a quiet, soft, most kind and gentle woman. But Eileen was also a business woman, who in 1975, following the death of her husband, while continuing to raise her 5 children, all under the age of 15, she carried on the management of the business established by her husband Sam. At 81 years of age, Eileen continued to work at Scott and Scott, Inc. in Highland Park, heading into the office at 7:30 every morning, right up the day of her stroke in March of this year. While Eileen would never see herself this way, she is, and will continue to be a role model for all who knew her, a beautiful example of humility and strength. She will be missed by all who were touched by her. The Funeral service will be held 12 Noon on Monday, October 22, 2012 at the Mather-Hodge Funeral Home, 40 Vandeventer Avenue, Princeton NJ. Burial will follow in Cedar Grove Cemetery Amwell Road, Franklin Township. Friends may call on Sunday, October 21, 2012 from 2-4 and on Monday October 22, 2012 from 11:00 am until time of service at the funeral home.
