James 'Guy' Stanley Skillman ESTERO, FL James "Guy" Stanley Skillman, 80, of Estero, FL, passed away on June 23, 2019, surrounded by his family. He had been battling Sarcomatiod Mesothelioma since September 2017. Guy was born in Princeton, NJ, on June 21, 1939. He attended Princeton High School, then served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Independence. Guy worked most of his life as an engineer, including almost 40 years at Princeton University, finishing his career as the assistant chief engineer of the PU Co-Gen Power Plant. He was an avid deer and turkey hunter, and enjoyed retirement playing golf, cards, bocce ball, Wii bowling and reading up on American history. Guy was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Bonita Springs, FL.
He is survived by his wife, Charlotte F. (Vandegrift); his daughters, Laura M Skillman, Donna L Skillman and her husband, Arthur J Eccleston; two granddaughters, Talia A Skillman-Eccleston and Lydia G. Skillman-Eccleston; sister, Sally and husband, Robert Traegler; brother-in-law, Dennis Kovach, and other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his son, James S. Skillman Jr.; sister, Maria E. Kovach, and his parents, James L. and Celia H. (Galeski) Skillman. Friends and family may call at Mather-Hodge Funeral Home in Princeton, NJ, on Saturday, Aug. 3, from 10 a.m. to 12 noon. A reception will follow.
