On Tuesday, November 12, 2019, Phyllis Giles, loving wife and mother of two children, passed away at age 82.
Phyllis was born on March 29, 1937 in the Borough of Manhattan, New York to Jim Ruggiero and Sadie Lamendola. She graduated from Hicksville High School in Long Island, New York and began working at Equitable Insurance Company in New York City. There, she met Dick Giles, and they got married on September 2, 1956. Together, they raised one son, Rick, and one daughter, Lauren, living in New York until 1969 when they moved to North Easton, Massachusetts for the next forty-six years. In 2015, they moved to Princeton, New Jersey.
Phyllis enjoyed gardening, antiquing, and cooking. Family time was her favorite time and she loved cooking big Italian meals for her kids and grandchildren, as well as their friends. Summers were spent in their cabin on Mousam Lake in Maine, relaxing and enjoying time with Dick, while eagerly awaiting visits from kids and grandkids as well as other family and friends. After her kids left for college, Phyllis enjoyed resuming her career working at Fidelity Investments.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her father, Jim, her mother Sadie, and her brother, John. She is survived by her husband, Dick, her son Rick and his four children, Cameron (and fiancée Russell), Christian, Caroline, and Carson, her daughter Lauren, and her two children, Sarah (and husband Dave) and Emily, her two great grandchildren, Addison and Avery, her sister Carol (and husband Mike) and several cousins, nephews, and nieces.
A Visitation will be held Friday November 15, 2019 from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM at Saint Paul’s Church, 216 Nassau Street, Princeton, NJ followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM. Burial will follow in Princeton Cemetery Princeton, NJ. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America. www.alzfdn.org
