We are so saddened to learn of the passing of both Jim and Custis. They were dear neighbors of ours on Lake Drive, Princeton, and fellow Nantucketers. We had many a breakfast at Downy Flake on the island over the years and dinners at the Annex in Princeton. Condolences to Margaret, Susan and Archer and their families.

Custis did open up her home and her heart to me as a caregiver to her husband first, then to her. I provided love and care to the couple and received the same in return from them both. The bond grew so strong over the months and then years that I considered them my parents away from home ( my country Liberia in West Africa). Their wonderful daughters treated me like a sister and we became family at once. I never saw being with the Clark's as a job any more because this family is one in a million compared to other families I have worked for. I believe kindness is in their gene. I bless God for the time I shared with you Custis and I will always love and miss u. All our dances and laughters are forever in my heart. Rest in perfect peace my American mother. I love you but God loves you best.

Custis was my friend from childhood. I have a picture of her at my 4th birthday party.
We both were spelling champions at 7th grade level. We shared the same values and walked the park together when she was in Staunton. She was a dear friend and I am so grateful to have had her in my life. My sympathy to the family.
