Obituary of Henry Schafer

Henry L. Schafer, Jr. (Larry) 77, of Princeton Junction passed away peacefully on January 1, 2013, after a courageous battle with Parkinson's disease. He resided at Sunrise of Lower Makefield in Yardley, PA for the past 4 years. Born in Princeton, he was a lifelong Princeton Junction resident. Larry honorably served in the United States Army. He was very active in the community and was a member of the Elks and Masons Lodge in Princeton and the Central NJ Antique Car Club. Larry was also a dedicated Volunteer Fireman for the Princeton Junction Fire Company # 1. Larry and his late wife Joan were the owners of Schafer's Service Station in Princeton Junction for many years. His easy going attitude and friendly personality made it easy for him to make friends wherever he went. He was passionate about antique cars, spending time with friends and especially fond of spending summers at his camper and on his boat on the Barnegat Bay. Larry was preceded in death by his beloved wife Joan and his parents Henry and Mary Schafer, He will be sadly missed by his nephew Donald Schafer, Jr. and his wife Nancy and their children DJ, Alexandra and Emily, Niece Kimberly Jago and her husband David and their children Sophie and Emma and his brother Donald Schafer, Sr. The Funeral Service will be held 10:00 am on Saturday, January 5, 2013 at the Mather-Hodge Funeral Home 40 Vandeventer Avenue, Princeton. Burial will follow in the Dutch Neck Church Cemetery, Princeton Junction. Friends may call on Saturday morning from 9:00 am until the time of service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Somerset Handicap Children's Treatment Center 377 Union Avenue, Bridgewater, NJ 08807
