I knew Don only in his later years, so it is a pleasure to learn more about him here. Lina and I visited him both in Princeton (where I grew up) and in Harrisville (where we live). I remember his quiet friendliness, his flair on the accordion and his love for his Norwegian family history!

On behalf of my parents, Margaret (Knutson) and Gerald Bryant of North Hately Quebec, and from myself and my siblings, I send our deepest condolences to Gunilla, Ellen, Lisa, Carol Linda, Maria, and all of his family. My Mom loved Donald as like brother and was so saddened to hear of his passing.
I have such wonderful memories of Donald playing his accordion at our Knutson family reunions, as well as the many other times he came to Quebec - to the cottage at Cedardale, North Hatley, to visit my "Nanny" on Swede Road in Waterville and to visit my parents in Lennoxville. Whenever Donald and his family came for a visit, it was the of best times.
I also remember so well the trip I took with my Mom and Dad to New Hampshire to celebrate Donald's 75th milestone birthday. That was such a wonderful time. Donald achieved so much in his life and I was proud to brag that I had an "uncle" who taught at Princeton University and was involved with the "fusion" research. I had some very interesting conversations with him about that subject when I was working for General Electric.
Rest in peace Donald, I hope you get to play some "harp and accordion" music duets with the angels

Don, a dear friend! Such a gentleman, so warm and considerate, generous and with that smile, and mild manner never trying to outdo anyone. We spent thirty Christmas Eves together with our growing families. Sometimes you brought music on the accordion, but always gay for singing the traditional tunes from the Old Country. On our monthly trips to service at Gloria Dei, the Old Swedish church, you listened patiently to the sermons and although not every word might have registered in the Swedish language, you grasped the meaning and were always interested in talking about their significance.
We are so said to learn of Don’s passing. He was one of our oldest friends in Princeton, and we have shared many wonderful times with Don and Gunilla and their family.
He will be sorely missed.

Don was a very versatile and talented engineer and a kind and patient mentor who helped so many of us become acclimated at PPPL when we were new hires. He was always willing to help us with technical issues, find our way around, and introduce us to other staff members. A friend to all, I will fondly remember Don’s welcoming smile, unfailingly pleasant personality, and the many good times we shared both at work and at after work social events. My deepest sympathies to Gunilla and the family.

I've known that kind face and contagious grin since as long as I can remember. He was a very special part of my childhood and always managed to make all of the younger kids feel important and that they belonged to the neighborhood just like he, Jim, Connie, Norman, Franklin, Margaret & others did. We younger ones were rather in awe of him. My immediate thought whenever he'd show up at Gerald's & Myrtle's (across the road from us) was I needed to go say hi. He always had time for the little kid. He will be missed so very much.

I’m sad to hear of Don’s passing. He was always a good natured and cheerful friend who was a regular member of the Old Men bowling team at PPPL. Many good memories of bowling, beer, and pizza on Monday nights, beer tasting gatherings, and ski trips to Hunter Mountain.. My condolences to Gunilla and the family. May he rest in peace.
