Verne L. Frantz Jr., 70, of Hightstown, NJ passed away on February 14, 2021 at Penn Medicine Princeton Medical Center in Plainsboro, NJ. He was born in Philadelphia, PA, moved to Deans, NJ when he was two years old, lived in Monmouth Junction, NJ and settled in Hightstown, NJ. He served in the United States Navy from 1971-1977. Verne was a world-renowned historian of Chevrolet cars of the 1958-1964 year models and founded the Jersey Late Greats car club. From the late 1960’s to early 1990’s he raced his 1962 409 Chevrolet. He took part in many automobile projects, one including the Gurney Car. In 1972, he married Janet E. (Kubiak) Frantz. He worked for Sarnoff / SRI and his work involved special projects that dealt with the stitching technology. He was a former Mason in Hightstown, NJ. Verne enjoyed music and playing guitar.
Predeceased by his parents Verne Sr. and Jean (Johnson) Frantz; and his son Shawn M. Frantz; he is survived by his wife Janet E. (Kubiak) Frantz; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Catherine (Louis) Kubiak-Greco, and Carol (George) Kubiak-Zamora; nephews Michael, Anthony and Daniel Greco; niece Natalie Zamora, great nephew Louis, and two cats Harry and BJ.
Visitation will be held on Friday, February 19, 2021 from 1:00 – 3:00 pm at The Mather-Hodge Funeral Home, 40 Vandeventer Ave. Princeton, NJ 08542. Due to COVID-19 restrictions the funeral home is only allowed 40 people at one time in the building and everyone is required to wear facial masks and keep a distance of six feet apart.
