Obituary of Edward Golda

Edward J. Golda, 89, of Princeton died Sunday, March 3, 2013 at home. Born in Newark, he resided in Princeton for the last eight years. He earned a B.A. from Seton Hall University and an M. A. and Ph.D. from Universitè Laval, Quèbec, Canada. He also studied in other countries namely: France, Poland, Italy, Spain, Austria and Mexico. He was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship to Colombia, South America. He was a Professor of Languages at Union College in Cranford. He taught all levels from elementary school to university. He was a WWII US Army veteran serving with the 95th Infantry in Metz, France. He was also an accomplished thespian, performing for many years in Union. He had a small part in the movie "I.Q." Son of the late Andrew and Mary (Trojniak) Golda, brother of the late Patricia, John, Henry, Walter and Eugene Golda, he is survived by his nieces and nephews John and Fran Golda, Terence and Barbara Golda, Kathy and Jay Curtiss, Karen and Skip Lucas, Kenneth and Dianne Golda, Michael and Kathleen Golda, and Gregory and Jeanne Golda. The Funeral will be held 9:00 AM Thursday, March 7, 2013 at The Mather-Hodge Funeral Home, 40 Vandeventer Ave., Princeton. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 AM at Queenship of Mary Church, 19 Dey Road, Plainsboro. Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery in East Hanover. Calling hours will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 PM Wednesday, March 6, 2013 at the funeral home.
