Very sorry to hear of Frank's passing.
Frank was a dear old friend and AT&T colleague with whom I had the pleasure of working both, very early on in our careers, at Long Lines Operations in New York City, and then, late in our careers at AT&T's International Department in Harding Township, NJ. In more recent years we had the pleasure of Frank's joining us at many of our AT&T alumni gatherings where he was always such a welcome, and welcoming presence for us all. Frank will be much missed and very fondly remembered.
With Sincerest Condolences.

The annual backyard Labor Day parties stand out in my memories. As a shy kid I would be nervous as we walked around the corner to spend the day with rarely seen second & third cousins from Long Island. I remember Uncle Frank as a giant of a man, chomping a cigar, the soul of hospitality, pushing food and drinks, belting out encouragement in the all-ages volleyball games (which did not preclude him shouldering us aside to save the ball – he was a bit competitive) and those roaring belly laughs. Of course by the end of the day we were breathless and laughing, stuffed full and looking forward to the next year’s bash.
My favorite memory as an adult was the road trip to Belmont for Aunt Shelia’s 70th, a ‘driving Miss Daisy’ adventure with Mom & Dad and Aunt Cath & Uncle Frank chattering about old times, shouting, laughing and contradicting each other on every detail. For a long stretch on the way home, Uncle Frank rode shotgun with me, and we talked shop for a bit about our telecom careers. Did you know that his work over the years in subsea fiber cables with his great friend Bill Carter paved the way for the enormous changes to the entire industry worldwide, so companies could build and own their own fiber, independent of the original government owned telecoms? Which is what helped the Internet to explode, because all that data could move anywhere for significantly cheaper costs. Geeky maybe; but Uncle Frank was more than a lineman from Queens, he was a diplomat, finessing complex negotiations all over Asia and Europe, because he understood people and really cared about making things work.
More important, Uncle Frank literally changed my life. In 1983, after I’d graduated college without any job plans or direction, he put in a word for me with some old colleagues to arrange an interview. Our families always looked out for each other and I’m sure that to him this wasn’t an exceptional thing to do. Because of him, I landed my first real job, at AT&T, learned everything needed to get on well, which got me the job at Global Crossing, which got me transferred to a job in London-- which is how I met Alex, and why I am now very happily married and settled in the UK! I can never thank you enough for this, Uncle Frank!
Thinking of Uncle Frank has also brought back so many memories of Mom and Dad, so I’m a bit weepy. My heart goes out to you Aunt Cath, and to all of you, Tim, Col, Bri, Rob, Ta and all of your wonderful wives, husbands, kids and grandkids. I keep thinking Mom and Dad are there with you in this time, with their very great love for you and Frank, their great friends and their rock. I wish I could be there, and if Alex & I make it over this summer, God willing, we’d love to come visit and share stories and laughs, arguing over the finer details, as the three of them would do.
With much love and gratitude for a lifetime of kindnesses,
Eileen

Thank you Eileen. What a beautiful tribute to my dad. We will miss him so much, but it's comforting to know he is being met by so many people who loved him who have gone before him, especially your parents. That was some great friendship they all shared! Love you. Colleen
