James A. Esposito, 79, of Mercerville, N.J. died on Tuesday, August 24, 2021, at home surrounded by his loving family. Born and raised in Princeton, New Jersey, he graduated from Princeton High School in 1960. He married his high school sweetheart, Carole (Mershon) Esposito. They resided in Princeton, N.J. and raised their two children, Kimberly and Keith, before moving to Mercerville, N.J. in 1985. James served in the National Guard from 1961-1966. He was a member of the Central Jersey Rifle club and was a competitive target sharp shooter. James was an avid fisherman who loved the ocean and the salt air. He loved being social and was always a kind and generous man. James especially loved gathering around his pool surrounded by his friends and family. James loved dining out and could often be found eating and enjoying a cocktail in his favorite establishments. One of his favorites was the old Annex Restaurant in Princeton N.J, where there was definitely a chair or stool with his name on it.
James was an Operating Engineer and a member of IUOE Local 825. After his retirement he worked as a sales representative for Mershon Concrete for the last 19 years.
James is predeceased by his parents, Vincent and Lena Esposito, his three brothers, and his beautiful wife of 44 years, Carole Mershon Esposito.
Survived by his daughter Kimberly Esposito-Schulz and husband Harry Schulz, his son Keith Esposito and wife Victoria Esposito, his four cherished grandchildren, Anthony Petro, Allison Schulz, Luke Esposito and Ava Esposito, his sister-in-law Arlene Hutnik and husband Andrew Hutnik, his niece Andrea Hutnik and husband Dave Niewiecki, his niece Amy Hutnik, and his great-niece Emily Niewiecki, as well as many cherished lifelong friends.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, August 29, 2021 from 10:00am-12:00pm at Mather-Hodge Funeral Home- 40 Vandeventer Ave., Princeton, N.J. (Masks required). Burial will be private at a later date.
