Obituary of Loretta Bercuk

Please share a memory of Loretta to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Loretta Bercuk was born on August 7, 1936, and lived life to its fullest until her last day on September 22, 2021.  She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Henry “Hank” Bercuk, who passed just three short months ago.  This is a special love story where they celebrated their shared Polish heritage and Catholic faith.  Loretta, the kid sister of Hank’s best friend Ted Sawicki, was just five years old when she met her future husband, so in addition to 66 years of marriage, Loretta grew up with Hank.  They were inseparable.  Loretta and Hank shared their lives for 80 years and now they are reunited.

In addition to being a devoted wife, Loretta was an adoring mother and Babchi.  She was interested in sharing her love of art, culture, music and theatre with her daughters and grandson as they traveled the world together as a family.   Loretta also loved her frequent trips with friends throughout Europe, Australia, South, America, and China.

Upon retirement as an executive administrator, Loretta was known for her love of charity work and devotion to her church ministries at St. David the King Roman Catholic Church where Loretta served as Co-Chair and later Chair of the Social Concerns Committee.  Loretta was honored by the Mount Carmel Guild for her volunteerism at the young age of 78 and has received recognition from Congress for her public service in local charities.  She is known by her church community as a “gentle woman.”

Loretta Bercuk leaves behind two daughters, Diane Fields (Richard Baldwin) and Susan Bercuk, a grandson, Jonathan Fields, countless nieces, nephews, godchildren, and friends.  Everyone that knew Loretta, loved Loretta.

Visitation will be held at St. David the King Roman Catholic Church, 1 New Village Road, Princeton Junction, New Jersey on Tuesday, September 28, 2021 between 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.  The funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, September 29, 2021 at 11:00 a.m.  Masks are required.

A private burial service will be attended by immediate family members at the Washington Crossing National Cemetery at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Loretta Bercuk to St. David the King Social Concerns or St. Jude Children’s Hospital.

Arrangements are under the direction of Mather-Hodge Funeral Home, Princeton.
