Gene and I worked together many years ago but always remained in touch. He was by far one of the best technologists i ever worked with and always shared his abilities with others. His love of family and joy in relating what they were all up to was a source of pride for him. His treatment of others was always fair and I never saw him lose his temper. Of course, he might have a few choice words for other drivers but that’s simply because nobody could measure up to his skills :-)
His time was short but he left his mark on so many of us. He was a good, good man and I’m so thankful he was (is) my friend.

Our condolences to Linda, Natalie, Stephanie, family and friends. I known Gene when I started back in September 2008, I didn't work for him then but he was very dedicated to his job and overall a funny guy. Always talked about his family, very devoted husband and father. When I started working for him for several years before the pandemic he was a good boss. He can be a pain at times (in a funny way), he knew Gary Fuller and I have Honda cars (I had just purchased mine) and he would walk up to us and started his philosophy of how great Toyota was over Honda, even with statistics. It would turn out to be a funny debate about the brands. When we see him coming down the hallway by reception, we knew it would be a Toyota vs Honda symposium. There was no arguing with Gene when it came to his Toyota cars, he stands by them!
He also would hold his "Ping Pong Lunch Hour" in the Innovation Zone. Put some tables together and some of us would spend lunch having a ping pong competition. Gary and Gene would sit on the floor and play mini ping pong. It was amazing.
We will miss you Gene. Vaya con Dios mi amigo.
