Obituary of Jean Repole Steinmetz

Jean Repole Steinmetz, 95, died on April 2, 2022. Jean was one of five sisters and one brother born to Anthony and Rose Repole of Trenton, New Jersey.  Throughout her life, she maintained a tight mutual bond with all her family and extended family.  Family was of paramount importance to Jean.  She resided in the Trenton area, studied business at Rider College, and was employed at John A. Roebling Son’s Co. for a time.  In 1950, she married Carl F. Steinmetz, also a Trenton native.  Their post-World War II path took them to Burlington, Vermont; Huntsville Alabama; and ultimately to the Washington, D.C. area where they resided in Potomac, Maryland for the large part of their life together (Carl predeceased Jean in 2012).

A longtime member of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, she raised two sons, Dr. J. Scott Steinmetz of North Attleboro, MA and Douglas R. Steinmetz of Bethel, CT.  Throughout, she was a dedicated and loving spouse, mother and grandmother to Carolyn and Laura Steinmetz, while earning here realtor’s license and working in Maryland for part of her time there.  A life-long skier since her days in Burlington, she and her family regularly traveled to Vermont and other ski resorts all the following years. She also was a conscientious lover of all animals, especially dogs, having had and loved a series of them throughout her life.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 30, 2022 from 8:30-9:30am at The Mather-Hodge Funeral Home, 40 Vandeventer Ave., Princeton, NJ 08542.
