Heather and Noah, I'm so sorry to hear about Cindy. I think about all the times our families got together and visited for the weekend, and Cindy was a terrific hostess, and nice to talk too, even though I was only a kid. I remember her laughing and having a good time. And although that was a long, long, time ago, I still think about her and would get updates from my dad about things going on with her, including this sad turn of events. She will really be missed.

From Massachusetts and New Jersey to Vermont – Suzanne and Clay Rose – meet - Cindy and Gil Henyon. Approximately 23 years ago my late wife Suzanne and I purchased a second home in Vermont. About one year later Cindy and Gil also purchased a second home in Vermont, and as luck would have it, we became next door neighbors. We even shared the same driveway. We four pre-boomers soon became incredibly good friends and started our routine of regular dinners and lunches at many of the Manchester area restaurants. The food was always exceptionally good, but - oh my, oh my - the deserts were always the highlight of the meal. Suzanne and Cindy always loved their deserts… hold the entrée, bring on the desert. Our conversations after the meals were wonderful. During one of our noon time lunches, our server came by our table about 2 ½ hours later and said “you guys must really like each other”, at which time Cindy said, “we are just getting started”. During another lunch, which lasted about 3 hours we all came back to our house for coffee and spent another 2 hours in wonderful conversation. Through the years, Cindy and Suzanne and Gil and I, spent many hours together and if I can borrow several words (with some minor changes) from an iconic song from an iconic band of the sixties and beyond …. “What a Wonderful Long Trip It’s Been.”
