Ira Stuart Atlas died May 3, 2022, at Hospital of University of Pennsylvania of heart failure. Ira was born November 13, 1942, in New Brunswick, New Jersey. He graduated from Rutgers College of Pharmacy. Ira served as owner and operator at Forer Pharmacy with his identical twin brother, Mel, from 1970-2011, in Princeton, New Jersey. Ira resided in Princeton, New Jersey with his wife, Mary.
Ira is preceded in death by his father Oscar Atlas and his mother Bertha Atlas. Surviving family is wife, Mary Atlas; brother Melvyn Richard Atlas with Mel’s wife, Gail; Ira’s son, Jason Todd Atlas with Jason’s wife, Jen; and his grandsons, Ian and Zachary. Also survivors are Ira’s nephew, Dr. Orin Atlas and his wife Jennifer; Ira’s nieces, Laurie Nesser and husband, Lee; Marnie Goldstein and husband Mike; his cousin Bobby Bolotin.
Most important to Ira was his time spent with his identical twin Mel. They both shared memories of attending Giants games with their father. Ira liked attendance with his wife, Mary, for eight years at Bible Study Fellowship International every Monday night. Ira’s love of sports and “working out” were shared with his son, Jason. He loved golfing with his “golfing buddies” in his retirement. Ira developed caring bonds with his pharmacy customers in Princeton.
The funeral will be held at Princeton Alliance Church, 20 Schalks Crossing Road, Plainsboro, NJ 08536, on Saturday May 7 at 1:00. Officiating will be Ira’s friend and Pastor, Boyd Hannold.
