Joseph Gabriel Silvestri, 60, of Pennington passed away Saturday, May 14, 2022 at home surrounded by his loving family following a nearly two year battle with Glioblastoma Brain Cancer.
Joe recently retired from a distinguished career building teams and managing dynamic growth at multiple companies. Most recently he served as CFO of United Building Maintenance in New York. He previously was a Principal and Chief Financial Officer at Software Reproduction Technologies in New York and served earlier with FMC in Lawrenceville, NJ
Born in Wilkes Barre, PA; Joe grew up in Lower Makefield Township, PA. attending Pennsbury schools; graduating in 1979. Joe went on to attend Villanova University where he met many life-long friends. He graduated Villanova class of 1983 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering and completed his Master’s in Business Administration in 1985. While anxious to get on with his career pursuits; he did intimate to friends that he wouldn’t mind extending his stay if he could.
While attending Villanova; Joe was active at the school radio station, WKVU, and broadcasted play by play for the basketball and football games. He also started Villanova’s first Men’s Volleyball team. While started as a small intramural group; within two years his team was attending and winning tournaments throughout the Northeast. Before he left Villanova; he kindly scheduled a match against the reigning National Champion, Pepperdine University for the following year. In more recent years; Joe headed the Central Jersey Villanova Alumni Chapter, as President.
Joe loved to attend Villanova basketball games with his fellow alums and led the formation of the local Alumni Chapter Game watch events where local alumni family and friends would meet to cheer on the Cats when the team was away. Joe became a father, a “little” later in life, than most; but relished every minute of his time with his beloved daughter Reagan. He immersed her in his passion for the local sports teams and would bring her along to every game that he could. When she grew to love playing the games; he threw himself into a supportive role as well. For the last seven years he has coached his daughter’s soccer and softball teams with great passion, enthusiasm and joy. All the girls under his tutelage improved their skills and embraced the love of their games.
Joe will be fondly remembered for his love of family and friends (literally counted in the hundreds). Passionate, patient, kind, outgoing, concerned, patriotic, inclusive, helpful, non-judgmental, analytical, deliberate, devout, devoted and joyful. These are all adjectives used to describe Joe in the last few days.
