Peter Smith, late of Kendall Park NJ passed into the loving arms of his Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ on September 17, 2020 at 76 years of age. Waiting to greet him in heaven were his mother (Mabel Nilson Smith), father (W. Douglas Smith) - a prominent lawyer in Princeton NJ, and two brothers (Joel and Randy) who predeceased him.
Left to mourn his passing were three surviving brothers (Douglas of Port Orchard WA, Christian of Sanford FL, and Philip of Salmon Arm BC Canada) as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Born in Princeton NJ, Peter was the youngest of six brothers. The family moved to Belle Mead in Montgomery Township in the Spring of 1946 to "the big white house on the hill'" at the corner of Rt. 206 and Millstone River Rd (Route 533). That was his home until his move to Kendall Park in 1998.
Peter attended elementary schools at Harlingen, Blawenburg, and Skillman. He also attended Princeton High School and graduated from VoTec High School in New Brunswick NJ in 1963.
Early in life, Peter developed a love for music, teaching himself to play piano and organ, and holding the position of organist and pianist in a local church right up to the time of his last illness.
Peter also made many friends and blest countless folks through the years by using his talents to produce lovely vinyl and CD recordings of area choirs, instrumental groups and pipe organs. Good sound was his passion.
The last few years were difficult for Peter with various physical ailments including two hip replacements. Now, however, he is at rest in the presence of the Lord Jesus whom he loved and served. He is not there because he lived a perfect life, but because he believed and trusted in the Lord Jesus Christ who died for his sins, arose from the dead, and promised eternal life, as a gift, to all who would repent of their sins, call upon Him, and trust in Him for forgiveness. Peter would want you to know Jesus as he did so you too might spend eternity in heaven forever.
Peter's funeral service was held at Stone Hill Church in Princeton NJ on Sept. 25, 2020, conducted by Pastor Steve Sherman of Christian Fellowship Church, North Brunswick, NJ. Interment was in the Smith Family Plot at Highland Cemetery in Hopewell NJ.
