Dear Anne,
I only met Michael twice; once at Sam Greco's house where he introduced himself to me and knew of my company Alden Films because he had used some of our films on Israel in his classes. The second time was at his house in Princeton where George Goeke gave a workshop on roasting a pig, and Michael's wife Judith spoke about her art. Of course there was beautiful music in both places; compliments of Westminster Choir College.. Felicia and I were welcomed by Michael as though we were old friends. There were no airs about him, unlike many people in academia. Later, I asked him for help in my presentation on Antisemitism(Antisemitism Then And Now) that I was giving at the NewCAJE conference in Naperville, IL. He was very encouraging in his comments. And of course I continued to read his thoughtful articles in The American Thinker. Reading the obituary in the Trenton Times brought me added appreciation for his role in defending Israel by founding American Professors For Peace In The Middle East after the Six Day War in 1967.For his contributions to History, Michael Curtis belongs in the pantheon of great Jewish historians from Great Britain–Martin Gilbert, Bernard Lewis, Efraim Karsh, Hyam Maccoby, Simon Schama, David Pryce Jones.
