Mark was a kind and gentle soul who made every event more fun with his wit and quiet humor. I enjoyed the holiday gatherings at his family home when I was new to the Jurcisin family as Mark and his family made me feel at home. Later when my husband Ken and I hosted our annual Jurcisin BBQ, Mark was always there with a smile, a bowl of homemade pasta salad, and a handful of amusing stories to tell.
When I saw him recently, his face lit up when he spoke of Olivia and Christopher. He was so proud of them and their accomplishments like the loving dad that he was. It was truly a pleasure to know Mark all these years. We'll miss him very much.

I didn't know Mark well - only as an online coworker in Lori Fabian's grantwriting firm, and I thought he was about 20 years younger, with brown hair. He had a young voice. He was a pleasure to work with - quick, patient, with a quiet sense of humor that was a balm during stressful projects. We worked on one grant where the client - the one person who could give us the information we needed - wouldn't answer our emails. Actually she wouldn't answer my emails. Mark, on the other hand, always seemed to get replies. He became our point person with her, and his success with her became our running joke. We got her that grant too. Living all over the country, we coworkers never got to go out for a beer after a project. Too bad. There was so much more to Mark than I knew, and I'm sorry I didn't get to know him better. May he rest in peace, and may the eternal light shine upon him. And may God comfort all his loved ones, who lost him way too soon.

Mark, we met March 10, 1995 and my life was never the same! We had some wonderfully happy times together; raising Olivia and Christopher was our best project we ever worked on!
Even after our 23 year marriage ended we still remained a family because we took our role as parents seriously.
I am glad you were a part of my life; it was love at first sight. I never stopped loving you and I am thankful that we were able to say "I love you" to each other in your last days.
Rest In Peace, Mark. You will be sorely missed.

My husband Michael and I were friends with Mark and Mari-Celeste from the time that our children were in preschool. We had many, many good times over 20 years with them both, separately and together. When their marriage sadly ended, it was a tribute to them both that they remained loyal and supportive to each other to the very end. Mari-Celeste kept us connected to him from his bedside and gave him our goodbyes from out of state when we couldn't be there at the end. Thank you both for never making us choose between you.
Mark and I bonded separately over our shared love of music, and I respected him greatly as a composer. His works were performed not only at Mercer, but in Seattle as well, and I loved hearing all about his works in progress. Mark also helped me on the side with my consulting business, using his many skills in research, writing, and computer programming to help my team raise grant funding for nonprofits. He left a void in my team that will be difficult to fill.
Mark, all of us Fabians will miss you as a dear and treasured friend. You were a brilliant, kind, gentle, and generous soul and we were honored to have had you in our lives. Rest well. Your legacy lives on in your music, your children, your students, and in the hearts of everyone who ever loved you, including us.

Mark,
We met for the first time via FaceTime over the summer with Lynn. She gushed about you everyday, and meeting you for that brief moment felt like I was meeting a celebrity. The famous Kark.
May you rest in peace ❤️
Love,
Danielle Sposato
