Nelly Escobar Alter of East Windsor went to be with her Lord on Sunday, February 20, 2011 at the University Medical Center at Princeton surrounded by her loving family. Born and raised in Bogota, Colombia, she graduated with a nursing degree and worked a few years at the Clínica de Marly Bogotá Colombia. She is regarded as the family trailblazer being the first to immigrate to the United States in her early 20's. She lived in New York City and worked at St. Clare's hospital before moving with her husband to East Windsor in 1972. She retired in 2005 after 30 years of service as an Operating Room Technician at the University Medical Center at Princeton. She was an active and faithful member of the Nassau Christian Center in Princeton and helped teach ESL to Princeton University students at the church. Daughter of the late Ernesto and Diosita (Morales) Escobar, she is survived by her husband, Daniel Jacob, two daughters Sonja Michelle Alter and Jennifer (Alter) O'Sheal, son-in-law Jon O'Sheal, two brothers, Francisco and Roberto Escobar, three sisters Jeanette Bohorquez, Gloria Castro, and Sophia Moreno, two grandchildren Julianna and Jacob O'Sheal and twenty-five nieces and nephews.
