Eleanor (Anderson) Fritsch, 99, of Newtown, PA, wife of the late Charles T. Fritsch, died Oct. 10 at Pennswood Village, Newtown. Daughter of the late William and Ella (Graupner) Anderson, she was born Jan. 23, 1914 in Philadelphia, PA. Mrs. Fritsch graduated from Germantown High School and from the Illman Carter School of the University of Pennsylvania. She served in the U. S. Navy's American Women's Voluntary Services during World War II. She began her teaching career at Miss Zara's School in Chestnut Hill, PA. Later, she taught at Miss Mason's School in Princeton, NJ, where she was director of the Initial Teaching Alphabet (ITA) program. She was also a substitute teacher at Miss Fine's School and at Princeton Day School and a teacher's aide at Newtown Friends School in Newtown. She was a member of the Nassau Presbyterian Church and served as superintendent of the Primary Department in the Sunday School and a deacon. She was a member of the Present Day Club and the Nassau Club and served on the Board of the McCosh Infirmary at Princeton University. When her husband was a faculty member at Princeton Theological Seminary, she hosted countless students and faculty members at gatherings at her Mercer Street home. Survivors include a sister, Kathleen Parry of Gwynedd, PA; two children, Susan F. Hunter and husband R. William of Bethany, CT, and The Honorable C. Theodore Fritsch Jr. and his wife Elizabeth of Doylestown, PA; three grandchildren, Sarah Fritsch of Atlanta, GA, Timothy Fritsch of Harrisburg, PA and Lauren Collier of Bolton, MA; a nephew, Steven Shaffer and his wife Susan of Mt. Laurel, NJ and a grand-niece, Alexandra Shaffer of Mt. Laurel. A memorial service will take place 10:00 AM Saturday, Nov. 16, 2013 in Penn Hall at Pennswood Villiage, Route 413, Newtown, PA. Burial was private. The Mather Hodge Funeral Home handled arrangements.
