Jerome J. Piazza Jr. passed away on February 2, 2014. Jerome "Jerry" Piazza had a boyish charm that never left him, the memory of which remains with his loved ones. He was born in 1938 as the first child " and only son " of Jerome and Lillian Piazza. He grew up in Brooklyn, New York, graduated from St. Francis Preparatory School, where he played tuba in the band. He married Bridget Petrella, also from Brooklyn and had two daughters, Lillian and Lisa. Along with his family he moved to Eltingville, Staten Island in 1973 and lived there until moving to Plainsboro, NJ in 2010. His career began with a part-time job at Waldbaum's, a New York supermarket chain. Over the next four decades he would advance to become a Regional Supervisor before retiring in 1999. Jerry was an avid sports fan who enjoyed following baseball, football, ice hockey and soccer. He was a skilled golfer who volunteered as a golf instructor for the Staten Island YMCA after his retirement. His grandchildren Danielle, Melissa, Erik and Alexander were the true joys of his life. Opera was another great passion of Jerry's " his musical hero was Luciano Pavarotti. Although not a man of cloth, he was deeply faithful throughout his life and in his final years he enjoyed his Bible study class. Jerome is survived by his wife of 54 years Bridget Piazza, his daughter Lillian Palladino and her husband Thomas of Staten Island, his daughter Lisa Sandberg and her husband Hans of Princeton Junction, NJ, and four grandchildren.
