Obituary of Jeannette Ann Rockafellow Lynch

JEANNETTE ANN ROCKAFELLOW LYNCH entered Heaven on Thursday, Dec. 3rd at Capital Health – Hopewell, surrounded by her loving family, and under the care of the wonderful staff of the ICU. Born and raised in Princeton, NJ, she married her childhood sweetheart and celebrated their 40th Anniversary prior to his passing in 1996. She was pre-deceased by her parents, Alice Baeder Rockafellow and John D. Rockafellow, Sr., her In-laws, A. George and Sarah Bazzel Lynch, her beloved siblings, Mary and husband “Hutch”, John, George, Ella and husband John. She is survived by her sons, David W. Lynch, Jr. and his wife Karen and George A. Lynch; her grandchildren, Tricia and Ralph Nelson, Crystal and Jay Rowe, Sarah Lynch and fiancé Christopher Thompson and David W. Lynch, III and his fiancé Bridget Bernard; her great-granddaughters Skylar Hope Nelson and Ali Jae Rowe; sisters-in-law Joan Rockafellow and Carol Lynch; her treasured nieces and nephews and their families; and her constant companion Buddy the dog. She was a graduate of Princeton High School and attended Princeton Theological Seminary’s Christian Educators training program. She grew up at the Institute for Advanced Study where her parents worked. Her first job was in the Institute’s Tea Room and she loved to share stories about her favorite “customer” Albert Einstein. She enjoyed her catering business and, along with her husband, owned two Cemetery Monument Companies. Her passion was for teaching children. She taught Sunday School for 45 years and taught and directed Community Vacation Bible School. Her joy was in taking care of her family which included parties at the backyard pool, trips to Lake George, NY and summers on Long Beach Island, NJ. Her life-long commitment to Church and Missions led her to join the Order of the Eastern Star and she supported their Charity Foundation work. She served numerous times as Worthy Matron of the former Hopewell Chapter, was a Past-Grand Officer of the State of New Jersey, having served as Worthy District Deputy of the former 7th District, and was a member of Victory Chapter # 96 in Hamilton Square. Arrangements are under the direction of Mather-Hodge Funeral Home, Albert D. Correnti, Jr., Manager, 40 Vandeventer Avenue, Princeton, NJ 08542. Visitation is Tues., Dec. 8 from 6-8 pm and Wed., 10-11 am. Eastern Star Service will be at Wed. at 10:30 am followed by the Funeral Service will at 11 am. Interment will follow at Princeton Cemetery. The Rev. Sarah Borgstrom Lee and The Rev. Roderick C. Mills will be officiating.
