Obituary of Louis B. Balestrieri

Please share a memory of Louis to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Louis B. Balestrieri, 86, a longtime resident of Princeton died Monday, October 24, 2016 at home. As a true “old school” gentleman, he was deeply loved by his family and by all who were fortunate enough to get to know him. He was also highly respected in his profession as a building contractor. Louis grew up on Birch Avenue with his parents, the late Salvatore and Maria (Piro) Balestrieri, his three brothers Salvatore, Dominick and John; and two sisters, Mary and Fanny. As a young child, Louis was stricken with polio. He overcame this obstacle to play semi-professional football, and on to becoming an exceptionally skilled builder of quality homes. He was the owner and operator of Louis B. Balestrieri & Son in Princeton. Louis was married to his childhood sweetheart, the late Margaret Jane Norris of Princeton for almost 50 years, until her death in 2001. He was a devoted and loving husband. Louis is survived by a son, Richard Balestrieri; two daughters and son-in-laws, Luann Ausen and her husband Jim Pascale, and Margaret Moyer and her husband, Fred Harrison; a brother, John Balestrieri ; a sister, Mary Balestrieri; four grandchildren, Jessica, Megan, Robert and Nicholas; and three great grandchildren Lily, Aubrey and Jackson. Louis enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was also an avid gardener. A Memorial Service will be held 3:30 PM Tuesday, November 1, 2016 at The Mather-Hodge Funeral Home, 40 Vandeventer Ave., Princeton. Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 3:30 PM Tuesday at the funeral home. A graveside ceremony is planned at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Cancer Research
