Obituary of Gail Barcelo

Please share a memory of Gail to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Gail (Bremenstul) Barcelo, age 72, a resident of Princeton for almost 40 years, passed away peacefully among her three sons and husband Brian on October 30, 2016. Gail was born in Greenwood, Mississippi and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana by loving parents Dorothy and Lew Bremenstul Sr. New Orleans was home to her high school sweetheart and devoted husband Brian T. Barcelo. Together for over 50 years, Brian and Gail attended Tulane University, married in 1965, and moved to California for their post graduate educations, before coming to New Jersey. Ever a devotee of education and science, Gail leaves behind her significant mark on both the Princeton University Dept of Molecular Biology and South Brunswick Board of Education after over 20 years of service to both. Known for her tenacious spirit and fueled by a voracious appetite for literature, Gail’s wisdom and generosity inspired those around her but most of all her family. She dedicated her life to her husband, her children, and her grandchildren. Gail was fond of bringing her loved ones on the most memorable trips across the globe. She will never be forgotten by those whose lives she touched nor her family. She is survived by her husband Brian T. Barcelo, three children, Jason M. Barcelo of Plainsboro, NJ, Trevor W. Barcelo and his wife Tracey Spruce of Andover, MA, and David B. Barcelo and his wife Jessica (Sinni) Barcelo of Andover, MA; four grandchildren, Tessa, William, Ava and Andrew; a sister, Minia Hamilton of Charlottesville, VA, and two brothers: Lew J. Bremenstul Jr. of Washington, D.C. and Brian Bremenstul of Virginia Beach, VA. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM with visitation starting at noon on November 11, 2016 at Kingston Presbyterian Church where she and Brian have been members for nearly 40 years. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Kingston Presbyterian Church or Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and indicate that the gift is in memory of Gail Barcelo. For MSK, please send to the Office of Development, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, Attn: Lauren Kelly, 885 2nd Ave, 7th Fl, New York, NY 10017.
